Professor Anna Glover holds a Personal Chair of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of Aberdeen, and has honorary positions at the Rowett and Macaulay Institutes.

there is still some doubt about transgenic food crop safety. In 1995 scientists Ardai Pusztai and Susan Bardocz were asked by the UK government to head a £1.6m research study to look into the safety of Genetically Modified Organisims.

They found compelling evidence of immume system irregularities, brain damage, hormone imbalances and pre-cancerous cell changes in laboratory animals. With the permission of Edinburgh’s Rowett Institute, where their research was carried out, they went public with this information. Later they were both forced to resign after Monsanto stepped in – Monsanto was funding the Rowett Institute.

Le professeur Anne Glover a été nommée conseiller scientifique principal de la Commission européenne en décembre dernier. Elle est chargée de fournir des conseils scientifiques indépendants et de haut niveau à tous les stades du développement politique au président de la Commission, José Manuel Barroso.

Le professeur Anne Glover a exercé la fonction de conseiller scientifique principal pour l'Écosse d'août 2006 à décembre 2011. Elle est titulaire d'une chaire de biologie moléculaire et cellulaire à l'université d'Aberdeen et membre honoraire des instituts Rowett et Macaulay. Elle est membre de la Royal Society d'Édimbourg, du Natural Environment Research Council et de l'American Academy of Microbiology.
